Abstract Submission Guidelines

Abstracts regarding any topic related to the field veterinary epidemiology, animal health and zoonotic public health will be considered; however, we particularly encourage submission of abstracts demonstrating relevance to the conference’s theme and sub-themes. The theme and sub-themes of this meeting are:
TOWARDS ONE HEALTH:

Abstract Deadlines & Notification Schedule:
Early call for abstracts: August, 2009
Call for abstracts: September 14th, 2009
Deadline for abstract submission: December 15th, 2009
Notification of abstract acceptance: February 15th, 2010
Abstracts will be selected for either a brief oral (15 minutes including a question and answer period) or poster presentation through an independent review process. A maximum of 48 posters will be accommodated. Posters must be formatted in landscape layout and dimensions must not exceed 3' H x 4' W (91.4 cm H x 121.9 cm W). The presenting author will be notified of the decision regarding their submission by Monday February 15th, 2010. Further details regarding final abstract submission for inclusion in the conference proceedings will be provided at that time as well. Abstracts not submitted in the required format (see below) and after the due dates specified above may be excluded from the conference proceedings.
Abstract Submission Guidelines and Specifications:
Authors should submit their abstract(s) by email to the following email address: cavepm@uoguelph.ca. Abstracts must be submitted by 11:59 PM EST on Tuesday December 15th, 2009. Abstracts submitted after this date will not be accepted.
When submitting an abstract please adhere to the following specifications or your abstract may be rejected.
General specifications:
- Abstracts must be limited to one 8.5” x 11” page and the body of the abstract must not exceed 250 words (double spaced).
- A minimum 2.5 cm margin should be applied (top, bottom, right and left).
- Times New Roman, size 12 font should be used throughout the abstract.
- The entire document should be left justified.
- Leave a blank line between each section (Title, Authors, Contact details, Abstract and References-if applicable).
- Abstracts must be submitted by email to the CAVEPM 2010 organizing committee at cavepm@uoguelph.ca.
- The preferred file format for abstract submission is Portable Document Format (.pdf), however word processor-specific formats (.doc or .wpd) will also be accepted.
- In the body of the e-mail message for which your abstract is attached, please indicate:
- Whether the abstract should be considered for an oral or poster presentation
- Whether the material presented will be:
- Final study results
- Preliminary results
- Study design / proposed plans
Title:
The title of the abstract should be in CAPITAL and bold text.
Presenting author:
Unless stated otherwise, the first named author will be expected to present the work. Furthermore, the presenting author should be clearly indicated in the abstract by underlining their name. The organizing committee must be notified of any change to the presenting author as soon as possible and the committee reserves the right to withdraw papers under these circumstances. Authors should be indicated as shown below: First Name Initial(s) Last Name (e.g. Jane S. Doe)
Contact Details:
Please specify the following information for the contact author: Name, Full postal address, E-mail address
If the individual presenting the work is not the contact author, please provide the e-mail address of the person presenting the work in the body of the submission e-mail message.
Body of the abstract:
The start of each paragraph within the abstract should be indented by five spaces.
References:
