Pre-Conference Workshop: Disease Outbreak Investigation
Rozanski Hall, University of Guelph, May 26th - 28th, 2010
This course will give a general knowledge of disease control and prevention in food animal populations, as well as enhance competencies to develop and implement methods and strategies for control, prevention and eradication of diseases in production animals – at all levels. On completion of the course, participants will be able to define and describe disease outbreaks in farms at the farm, regional, national and international levels; handle relevant disease control strategies; critically select among control strategies; investigate reported suspicions of contagious diseases considering obligations to the farmer as well as veterinary requirements; collaborate scientifically, professionally and administratively with all parties involved in the outbreak and its control; perform and supervise disease control activities; and take responsibility and make decisions as a veterinary practitioner or as an official veterinarian.
A dinner for workshop participants will be organized at Fifty West Bistro at the Delta Hotel located within walking distance of the University of Guelph.
