Research

Dr. PearlÂ’s research interests center on the use of quantitative methods to study the epidemiology of zoonotic and animal diseases and enhance disease surveillance. These quantitative methods include multi-level statistical modeling and a variety of statistical techniques designed for the analysis of spatial and molecular data. His projects have involved a variety of pathogens, such as E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella, Campylobacter and antimicrobial resistant organisms, in a number of host species including humans, cattle, dogs, poultry, swine, and wildlife.

Teaching

Dr. Pearl is involved in teaching both introductory and advanced epidemiological concepts in a number of courses including Epidemiology I (POPM*6200), Epidemiology II (POPM*6210), Epidemiology of Foodborne Diseases (POPM*4040), and Introduction to Molecular Epidemiology of Bacterial Diseases (PABI*6350).
