Welcome to the Ontario Veterinary College, where innovators in veterinary medicine meet! Here you'll find the most comprehensive and up-to-date information on admission into the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program here at OVC.
A way to connect with others looking to apply to OVC, and to discuss your issues or concerns, is through the University of Guelph Future Vets Club.
Join us and some of our DVM students for an online chat on February 15th at 7PM EST. You can ask questions or just sign on and read the commentary. The link for the chat will be posted here closer to the date.

Unsuccessful applicants: We are not able to provide individual feedback for unsuccessful candidates. A debriefing session with a live web feed was held at 6PM on Wednesday September 14, 2011 in room 1714.
Non-Canadian Applicants: As of 2013 entry all courses that are to be submitted as prerequisites must be completed by the end of the summer semester of the previous year, and document deadlines will be December 1st.
English-speaking residents of Quebec: A small number of exceptional and qualified applicants from Quebec will be considered for entry into the program for fall 2011 and 2012 entry. For fall 2013 entry Quebec residents must first establish Ontario residency of 12 months. Please note that Quebec applicants must fulfill all the academic and non-academic requirements listed within this website.
MCAT deadline (Canadian applicants): Students must satisfy the deadline date of January 1st for receipt of MCAT scores by the University of Guelph or their DVM applications will not receive further consideration (the latest test date acceptable would be in September). This deadline is firm and no extentions or exceptions will be made. Test dates fill up quickly so candidates are advised to register early - usually 4 months prior to the test date.
Statistics from past admission cycles: Below are the summary statistics from the application cycles from the last few years.

The value of accreditation is summarized on the AVMA website.
Accreditation by the AVMA Council on Education (COE) and Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA) represents the highest standard of achievement for veterinary medical education in the United States. Institutions that earn accreditation confirm their commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a rigorous and comprehensive peer review. Accreditation is a process by which an educational institution or program submits to a voluntary, non-governmental review to determine whether it meets accepted standards of quality. Within veterinary medicine, the AVMA COE develops standards and conducts reviews of DVM or equivalent educational programs, while the AVMA CVTEA develops standards and reviews programs in veterinary technology. An institution or program is considered fully accredited when it is found to meet these standards (see the COE accreditation process and the CVTEA accreditation process for more information). Graduation from an AVMA COE- or CVTEA-accredited institution is a prerequisite for licensure or certification for professional practice through the majority of state licensing boards and credentialing agencies in order to meet the educational prerequisites. In brief, AVMA accreditation of veterinary medical programs and institutions assures:
