Claudia Kabakchiev, DVM

Dr. Kabakchiev graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2011, where she had developed a passion for avian and exotic animal medicine. After graduation, she worked in small animal general practice as well as volunteering her time at an animal shelter. She gained experience working with many different companion animal species, and then decided to return to the OVC for an internship in the Avian and Exotics department, which she completed in 2016. She is currently enrolled in a 3 year DVSc/residency specialty program in Avian and Exotic Medicine that is accredited by the ABVP(Avian) and ACZM (companion zoological animals). Dr. Kabakchiev is interested in all aspects of exotic companion animal medicine as well as wildlife medicine. She also enjoys working in an academic setting where she can be involved with research and teaching of student veterinarians. In her free time, Dr. Kabakchiev enjoys dancing, traveling, reading, and spending time with her husband and their 3 birds.
