Dr. Moran Tal Gavriel, DVM, BSc

Dr. Moran Tal Gavriel is a graduate of the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, class of 2008. Once graduated, she worked for a companion animal clinic, the Moria Center. After a year of clinical practice she chose to pursue opportunities in the field of public health. She worked both as an Officer of Public Health and as a municipal veterinarian. These experiences added to her extensive knowledge of food safety. For the past 3 years, Dr. Tal Gavriel has worked for the IVSAH (Israeli Veterinary Services and Animal Health). Her work focused on the registration and certification of animal feed and food safety. She was also responsible for a number of projects including receiving certification for BSE "negligible" status for Israel in the OIE (World Organisation for Animal Health). She is currently completing her DVSc in Clinical Nutrition and will be spending most of her time with the OVC Clinical Nutrition Service and conducting companion animal nutrition research. Dr. Tal Gavriel's research interests include Vitamin D deficiency, hypothyroidism, and obesity (especially in cats). Her DVSc research project will evaluate the impact of feline obesity treatment on the fecal microbiome.
