Students from the Ontario Veterinary College earned top awards at the recent 41st annual meeting of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) in Charlotte, N.C.

Cynthia Miltenburg (OVC ’10) was awarded a prestigious Amstutz Scholarship. The award is presented annually to 20 DVM students from across North America in an effort attract well-trained veterinarians to food animal practice, particularly bovine practice, and to offer various educational enrichment opportunities to help ensure that practitioners are equipped to meet the needs of the 21st century. The scholarship was created in honour of Dr. Harold E. Amstutz, an esteemed bovine researcher who was the AABP's first executive vice-president.

Miltenburg’s classmate, John Las, earned 1st prize in the student research presentation category for his project, “The Evaluation of the Effect of a Miele PW 6065 Plus Washer on the Bacterial Load and Durability of Dairy Udder Towels.”
