OVC's research program in Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine involves research on stem cell and tissue engineering-based therapies with a specific focus on joint cartilage repair.
Within this applied research approach, basic mechanistic insights of the chondrogenic cell fate are sought and include studies in the area of cell mechanobiology. Research centered on regenerative medicine includes development, regeneration and evolution of skeletal tissues, most notably nerve regeneration in reptile models (i.e. Leopard Gecko).
